With Gratitude for the Natural World

We will preserve what we fall in love with.

Like many photographers, I have come to the craft and art of photography from someplace else. For more than 40 years I have done conflict management and dispute resolution training and consulting, working with companies like IBM, Raytheon and the FDA, as well as assisting individuals in resolving their own more personal disputes. While effective conflict management and dispute resolution are important forms of peacemaking, twenty years ago I picked up a camera and began seeking another avenue to peace that I hoped would aid in my personal expression.  Working mostly out-of-doors since that time, my appreciation and gratitude for our natural world has grown, as has my desire to represent it through my photographic work. I am motivated by a growing awareness that a good photograph awakens something in us, an intimate and appreciative awareness of self and our surroundings. The tagline above - We will preserve what we fall in love with - borrowed from filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg, is a reflection of my desire to enlist the love of others in an effort to preserve our one wild and natural world.
